    the secret of two men
November 2003, the competition begins now!

"My name, I heard that I'm going to live just today, so I'm going to take care of it."

Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik), who likes to drink and chat. This man, who says, "Let's live just today," is an extremely ordinary office worker with a wife and a small daughter. One day, he is kidnapped by an unknown person on his way home drunk and trapped in a private cell...

"Would it have been easier to bear if they had said '15 years' at that time?"

At first glance, the room reminds of a cheap hotel room. All he can do is watch television while eating fried dumplings at a Chinese restaurant, which is a limited space of 8 pyeong. A year later, news of his wife's murder was released on the news. When Oh discovers that he is the murderer of his wife, he commits suicide but is not even allowed to die.

He records his "autobiography of evil" by taking out all the incidents and physical training to get revenge. He sometimes digs up one corner of the confinement room with steel chopsticks to escape. When he finally has enough escape to escape from the 15th anniversary of his imprisonment, he finds himself released to the same place where he was kidnapped 15 years ago.

"If you find out who you are and why you locked me up... I'll die."

Oh Dae-soo, who suddenly lost his mind at a Japanese restaurant by chance, goes to the house of assistant chef Mido (Kang Hye-jeong), and Mido develops feelings of love that began with compassion for Oh. Meanwhile, after finding the identity of the 7.5th-floor confinement room that he found with just one slip of "Cheongryong" from the dumpling he ate in the confinement room, Lee Woo-jin (Yoo Ji-tae) offers a game so coolly to algebra, who is infested with vengeance on the day of his first face-to-face meeting.

If he reveals the reason for his confinement within five days, he will die for himself. Daesu must solve a five-day puzzle in order to solve this terrible secret, so as not to lose his beloved lover, Mido. Who is Lee Woo-jin and why did he imprison Oh Dae-soo for 15 years? What will happen to the fate of the two men in front of the secret that has been revealed?

    Review

It is one of the masterpieces representing the renaissance of Korean films in the 2000s and is considered the most famous Korean film in the world. If director Bong Joon-ho has a memory of murder, director Park Chan-wook has been analyzed and praised continuously since his release [13]. It is a film that is very famous and recognized not only in Korea but also abroad, and is considered one of the representative works of the 2000s across the country. Park Chan-wook's unique provocative sequence and mise-en-scène are filled throughout the film, overwhelming the audience all the time. Some audiences are still addicted to it, but they cannot shake the shock. The theme is revenge and guilt.

Twenty years after its release, Oldboy is still talked about as one of the leading films of the 2000s worldwide. It ranked 30th in the BBC's Top 100 Greatest Films of the 21st Century in 2016, and is also ranked 69th overall as of March 2020 and 20th among 21st Century Films. It was ranked 29th in the BBC's 2018 Foreign Language Film. When you watch videos of the film on YouTube, it is recognized by overseas movie fans as it has far more foreign reviews than Koreans
